One of college football’s most recognizable voices will bring his talents to the NFL. It was reported last week that Amazon wanted to land ABC/ESPN college football analyst and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit for its upcoming Thursday night NFL broadcasts.
Now, it looks like it’s come to fruition according to NBC Sports’ Peter King. Amazon will begin streaming NFL games this fall exclusively on its Amazon Prime Video, and finding a top analyst and game-by-game man will be important to get the service off the ground.
And if you think Herbie doing an NFL game on another network would be something ESPN frowns upon, Herbstreit is expected to stay on ABC/ESPN broadcasts and with College GameDay, which he’s been a part of since 1996. .
Going through @peter_king, Amazon is settling in (or perhaps settling in for) Kirk Herbstreit as Thursday Night Football analyst. https://t.co/VOYQMvqKik

There has been no announcement or report on who Herbstreit will be partnered with, but Al Michaels has also been a name that has also come under pressure as a potential. We’ll have more as it becomes available.
