Erling Haaland prepares for Rangers return as Dortmund star steps up training ahead of Europa League second leg

Borussia Dortmund superstar Erling Haaland took full part in training on Monday as he plans to return for the trip to Ibrox this week.

The Norwegian striker is one of Europe’s most prolific players and is set to earn big money this summer, with Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid all interested.

Haaland has struggled with injury this season, however, and missed the first leg of the Europa League play-offs with Rangers.

Gio van Bronckhorst’s side took control of the game with a 4-2 win and are favorites to progress ahead of 50,000 on Thursday night.

Haaland had returned to partial training ahead of that game but was not considered ready to face Rangers or Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday.

However, Ruhr24 and RevierSport both report that he took part in a full session on Monday – a potential indication that he will travel with the team to Glasgow.

Marco Rose’s first team were given the day off after spanking Gladbach 6-0 on Sunday, but Haaland was put to the test alongside the reserve squad.

This could well indicate that Dortmund are working as hard as they can to make him aware of the trip to Ibrox.

The Bundesliga giants were favorites to win the Europa League ahead of the first leg and have publicly declared their aim to go all the way and lift the trophy.

This means they should name their strongest possible XI in the return and Rose will be desperate to have Haaland available.

The striker has scored 23 goals in just 20 games so far this season, as well as providing five assists, but has been sidelined for a month with an adductor problem.
