On the podium, Wentz took responsibility for his “poor” play at the end of his only season in Indianapolis. He said he was “definitely surprised” by how things ended with the Colts.

The Colts lost their final two regular season games, to the Raiders and Jaguars, to miss the playoffs.

“I think it was a year that had ups and downs, ups and downs,” he said. “But the way we finished, the way I finished, was awful. It was awful. It was hard to swallow.”

Wentz said he’s “excited” to be back in the NFC East and wearing No. 11, which he says “feels like home.”

The Eagles’ second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Wentz spent five seasons in Philadelphia, where he won a Super Bowl four years ago against the Patriots – although it was Nick Foles who replaced a Wentz injured throughout the playoffs. . Wentz was benched in 2020 when current Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts took over, then was traded to the Colts last March.

The Colts traded Wentz to Washington last Wednesday, along with second- and seventh-round picks in this year’s draft, in exchange for second- and third-round picks this year and a conditional third-round pick in 2023.

Wentz landed in DC on Wednesdaythrough the team private planeand said he was “excited to get to work” and “come to compete”.
